A fun drama day-camp in a safe, non-competitive environment designed to awaken the creative spirit and imagination through acting, music and movement.
Classes meet daily, 9:00 am – 4:00 pm, for 1 week as students prepare to present a showcase presentation for family and friends on the last day of camp at 7 p.m.
Students will love being “immersed” in theatre for a week while they are involved in every aspect of the production from learning lines, music and dance steps, to creating costumes and staging their show. 
Students must bring a sack lunch, water bottle, snacks and sunscreen.

Registration fees are listed below for each camp location.
In addition to registration fees paid to the recreation departments, a $15 cash production fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of camp to cover a camp t-shirt, scripts, and all production related materials.

The Happiest Place on Broadway
Musical Theatre Camp - 2009

featuring songs from "Beauty and the Beast" -- "Little Mermaid" -- "The Lion King" and "Mary Poppins" and more!
Ages 7 - 14

A musical theatre camp where students have fun improving their singing, dancing and musical theatre acting skills as they put together a musical celebration of the Happiest Place on Broadway! Students will receive instruction and positive critiques from instructors to help them become a triple threat (actor, singer, dancer). They will perform various song and dance numbers in a showcase performance at the end of camp. Campers need to bring a sack lunch, snacks and water.
In addition to registration fees paid to the recreation departments, a $5 cash production fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of camp to cover a practice CD, song sheets, and any performance related fees..

Calling All Young Wizards

Come join us at Wizardry and Literacy Camp for a fun week that will take campers on a journey through reading, writing and acting as we study the J. K. Rowling book, “Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince” Young wizards will be sorted into groups which are led by our “professors” and each day young wizards will work on reading parts of the book and acting it out, personal journaling, making wands & hats andmaking & sampling treats of Wizardry cuisine. The emphasis on this camp will be the importance of reading and writing - and making it fun and learning how to create interesting characters to make stories come alive.

Movie Making Camp

Ages 7 - 14
c.a.t.s. movie camps LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION! - MOVIE MAKING CAMP
Discover the many possibilities of filmmaking... from both sides of the camera! Try your hand at directing, writing and acting as you create a short film in varying styles, examining all aspects of the process along the way. We’ll explore different film genres, and use our research and creativity to recreate their styles in our short film. Discover the skills you need to make great films, and/or appear in them! Campers will receive an edited DVD mailed to them after camp ends. Students must bring a sack lunch (for full day camps), snacks and sunscreen. Water will be provided. In addition to registration fees paid to the recreation departments, a $15 cash production fee is payable to the instructor on the first day of camp to cover handouts, materials used, and camp DVD of movies made.

Dance Sampler Camp

AGES 4-6
Boys and girls will enjoy an exciting dance adventure, through the use of basic steps, music, encouragement, and lots of imagination as they explore creative movement, hip hop, tap and jazz! Campers should bring a filled water bottle and light snack. Informal performance the last day of camp.

Students will spend each morning making great meals, desserts and treats. In addition to cooking great recipes, students also learn the importance of safety and cleanliness in the kitchen. French, Korean and Jamaican cuisines are among those that will be explored. $15 cash material fee due to instructor first day of camp covers all food materials used and a cookbooklet containing the recipes they used at camp.

SUMMER CAMP FUN From C.A.T.S.
Camp Directors, Roxanne Diesel, Katie Duetz,and Marilyn Zaslow have taught acting classes and performed in Southern California for over 14 years. Each summer since 1998 they have developed and offered a variety of summer camps including drama camps for stage and film, Crime Scene Investigator Camp, Kids Can Cook Too Cooking Camp and Wizardry and Literacy camp.  Their popular camps fill quickly as students anticipate a summer of learning made fun in these exciting camps.

Roxanne Diesel
Executive/Artistic Director, Acting Instructor B.A. Theatre/Youth Theatre. Roxanne has directed numerous youth and adult productions on both the east and west coasts for over 19 years and has been instructing youth in the magic and fun of theatre for over 16 years. During the school year, she teaches Drama classes through C.A.T.S. and Cooking Classes through Kids Can Cook Too!. She also performs, writes and directs for Gypsy Productions and with Gypsies in a Trunk and the Gypsy Players in Southern California.

Marilyn Zaslow
Associate Camp Director - Marilyn graduated from Cal State Northridge in 2004 with an English degree.  She has worked with the Gypsy Players in various murder mystery dinner events and the popular Fairy Tales in the Park series for 6 years.  She is currently working at Newbury Park High School and is continuing her acting career at the Stage Door Theater in Agoura.

Katie Deutz - Ventura County
Associate Camp Director, Musical Theatre Choreographer - Katie has been with CATS for 5 years, starting out as a volunteer and becoming a part of the staff the following year. When not working camps, she is a dance teacher at Dance Infinity teaching kids from as young as 2 1/2 up to ages 13. She is currently currently a student at Moorpark College as a business major and looks foward to directing Dance Camps this summer!campers2
